TGIF Vado lovers! Let’s celebrate with a new Creative Pick! Today’s video is “Something Else” Music Video by Emerson College student, Andrew Nolan. Andrew did a great job of showing off the fine qualities of the Vado as well as his impeccable editing style. The opening sequence of the video is perfectly matched to the beats of the music- not an easy feat. The cinematography was point on, as well. Your filming style was intriguing, captivating, and slightly haunting. Andrew, we love the way you framed the video, the complex editing style, and are thankful for the introduction this great song. (My particular favorite lyric, “music is my jester, I never should have left her” is currently my IM away status.) I hope you keep us informed on what your group, Atlas of Creation, is up to next. Perhaps another Vado music video is in your future?
For those of you who want to vote on Andrew Nolan’s video, you can do so until January 31st. Be sure to check out the other videos while you are at the Vado Film Contest page. Students from film schools all over the nation have submitted their films to be voted on by all of us–the general public–as well as our Expert Panel of Judges. Winners have the chance to win killer prizes, including cash, an internship with a famous film maker, a handful of Vado HD pocket cams, and other awesome Creative gear.
See you next time with another Creative Pick!

Ahhh, Thursday, with your promise of weekends, freedom and bliss. Thursday also brings another Creative Pick! Today’s video is a modern twist on a classic style. Book Lovers, a film by University of North Carolina film student Noah Smith, is a sweet story about a couple who keeps missing their chance to meet but are eventually united over their love of books. Noah’s split-screen film features two perspectives, a great soundtrack (done by his band, The Never), and excellent cinematography. Props to Noah for bringing the silent pictures back to life.
Stick around, we are showcasing 25 of our favorite video entries from our Creative Vado HD Film Contest. Students from film schools all over the nation have submitted their films to be voted on by all of us–the general public–as well as our Expert Panel of Judges. You can vote on any of the films that are up until January 31st.
See you tomorrow,

Today’s Wednesday, which means we are on to our third Creative Pick. We are showcasing 25 of our favorite video entries from our Creative Vado HD Film Contest. Students from film schools all over the nation have submitted their films to be voted on by all of us–the general public–as well as our Expert Panel of Judges. You can vote on any of the films that are up until January 31st.
CSU Long Beach student TonyVercelli gets personal in today’s Creative Pick: Tony Has a Girl for Dinner. Tony spends a lot of time preparing for his date. He spreads out a table cloth, fashions a bouquet centerpiece out of a lei and a cocktail glass, even revs himself up in the mirror. I like to think all date preparations exist exactly like this…well nearly like this. Perhaps it was all the excitement, but Tony made one crucial error. Tony, you’re a lovable bloke. We hope this video isn’t autobiographical, and that in real life- you got the girl.
Come back tomorrow for another Creative Pick!

Yesterday we announced that we would be showcasing 25 of Creative’s picks from our Creative Vado HD Film Contest. Students from film schools all over the nation have submitted their films to be voted on by all of us–the general public–as well as our Expert Panel of Judges. You can vote on any of the films that are up, including every one showcased in our 25 Creative Pick of the Day posts.
In today’s Creative Pick, Two Straws from UCLA film student Court Soto, Frank Wells accounts for his present and past. He reflect on his sweeter past, a time he and his wife spent wrapped up in loving bliss, and his present life where he is absent his soul mate. I love Soto’s choice of showing Frank’s past memories in color and the present in an old dusty film coloring. It’s pieces like Soto’s Two Straws that make Vado Film Contest so successful.
Be sure to watch Two Straws. When you’re done- vote for it. Voting for the contest ends Jan 31st.
Come back tomorrow to see our Creative Pick for Wednesday.

Our Creative Vado HD Film Contest is coming to a close.
We have had the pleasure of watching all the incredible films that have come in for the contest. It is rewarding to see all the thought and talent that has gone into each Vado HD video. We thought it would be a great idea to share a video a day–a Creative Pick–so everyone can see the videos that we, your Creative staff, gravitated towards.
Today’s film, The Throne, comes from University of North Carolina film student Laura Green. The premise of the film is a retelling of a dream our lead character and narrator has had. Our lead wanders around a gritty, industrial setting as the narrative pulls together the images we are seeing. We salute Green’s story telling; the script has just the right amount of dry humor (I specifically loved the audible fumbling of whether to use “dragged” or “drug”) and she did a great job wielding our high definition pocket cam. The piece had a similar flavor to that of dark-indie great, Brick, which left me with the impression that Green has already taken the first step in what could be a long career in film. We think her Vado Film Contest entry is a great piece for her portfolio.
Take a look at The Throne, and let us know what you think.
You can vote for The Throne on the Vado Film Contest site until Jan 31st when voting closes.
Come back tomorrow to see Tuesday’s Creative Pick.
Something winning this way comes… January 14, 2010

We had some completely bizarre paranormal activity happen recently. We announced the winners of our “I’m A Creative Fan” contest this past December, and everyone came forward to claim their lovely prizes (Shiny new Gen2 Vado HDs in 4 and 8 Gig form) except for two people. These two people were @mcdan40 and @trampanzee.
Typically, we have a time frame that people need to claim their prizes. In the instance of this contest, the time limit was 15 days. Well, in all technicality- 15 days would be this upcoming Friday. I was waiting for them to show themselves as the lovely fans they are until our Twitter friend, @kathe444, brought to our attention that neither Dan or Trampanzee were our friends! What? Was it something we said?
I’m not certain what happened. I can only speculate. Either 1.) Dan and Trampanzee added us and then were both abducted promptly after the winners were announced by some of our fans who feel they deserve the Vado HD more. After their abduction they were tortured with that old VW commercial’s “da da da da” song on malicious repeat and were fed the candy no one ever eats at Halloween like wax lips, raisins and those awkward spongy circus peanuts until they acquiesced to removing Creative from their list of friends so the drawing would commence once more. OR 2.) The tiny birds, monkeys and other minuscule zoo animals running Twitter provided us with a wobbly list from which to pick our winners. These are the only two options. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of said abductors or pugnacious Twitter critters, please come forth. Our Creative fan base begs you.
What was left to be done but pick new winners? Well, pick new winners we did. The NEW winners are @nrhanson and @brixtonq. I hope that you get your information to me before the abductors get to you. May both your souls be saved.
You can send your mailing address and phone number to socialmedia@creativelabs.com and I will send your sleek new Vado HD pocket cams out to you promptly. Thanks to everyone for being our pal, keeping us in check and providing us with endless entertainment. We love you dearly.
Your friendly neighborhood gal,
